AC21 pioneers, any recommendations on picking lawyers around NYC? specifically those that are fairly responsive and charge a fair price on all the procedures / docs that come with maintaining AOS, including a possible AC21 notification letter, renewing EAD/APs....

I have seen references that if there are different I-140 apps approved per family, there is a possibility of going for the 485 stage separately. Also I have seen posts stating that one can go for AOS and the other for CP.
How do you communicate to USCIS that for one you are doing AOS and the other you are doing CP, with reference to the 485 stage? When does this really happen?

Hi,
Recently we moved. So I did not apply the AP renewal(a two month window) till we move. But now my wife has extreme family accident/emergency in India. So we applied for AP online and went to Chicago field office (we went there because kid also need INDIA VISA STAMP) and to Milwaukee office with letter from document. They said that they would not approve. So I have sent the support document s for I-131 to the Texas Service center in overnight courier service today. I have H1 valid till may 2010. What are my options?
Does her travelling on H1 with AP pending will cause problems to I-485?

Based on the posts in this forum,during POE the I-94 will say AOS pending status if you enter using AP..So i dont think it matters with AP validity date.

I am on a H1B with company A. I've been offered a job with company B which is currently processing my H1 transfer paperwork. I had accepted the offer letter from company B and had submitted all my papers for H1B transfer.
The starting date in the company B is 20th Nov as per offer letter. Now I had decided to stay back with the company A (by 18th Nov) before joining the company B. Is there any issue by doing so?

Supposed my I-485 was approved, am I legally required to go to USCIS, surrender my I-94 card and get a I-551 stamp? Could I just wait for GC to come in the mail?
The card is taking just a few days to arrive these days. Just wait for a few more days. You need the I-485 approval notice to get I-551 stamp.
But I'm sure you won't need it.

Hi,
I am currently on H1b and had recently filed papers for transfer from employer A to employer B. I have got the email from USCIS that my case has been approved and that documents will be delivered soon.
My H1b transfer has been accepted for 01/01/2010. My date of joining the new job is 01/04/2010. My original H1b with company A is still valid till Oct 2009.
Since I have to give my old employer a two weeks notice to resign. If I give my notice around 12/21/2009 (notice period of leaving by 01/04/2010) and my employer relieves (terminates) me immediately will I be out of status at any time?
Also, My green card process is going to start soon. Is it going to affect me as I am worried that I might be out of visa status from 12/21/2009 to 01/01/2010.
Please suggest. I need to make a decision in few day.

USCIS continues to streamline its processing of applications and petitions with the recent change in filing locations for several forms. The following forms should be mailed to USCIS lockbox facilities rather than directly to USCIS Service Centers:
* I-129F
* I-130
* I-140
* I-526
* I-539
* I-817
The updated filing instructions can be found on the latest versions of each form, which are available for free from USCIS.
This change became effective August 3, 2010.If you recently mailed an application. Applications already en route to the Service Centers will be automatically forwarded to the appropriate lockbox for a period of 45 days. After September 17th, packages (including fees) will be returned to the applicant along with a note explaining the new filing instructions.
