Anyone can open a company even while you are on a H1 (you don't need EAD for it). But, you can't work for it. Technically, signing a check or opening a bank account is considered to be "work".

Just wanted to know your thoughts on this. CNN has launched the first ever cnn-youtube debate and the deadline to submit videos is 7/22.. Users have to basically upload their questions on youtube and some of these questions will be selected and democratic presidential candidates will have to answer these questions.
I know its kinda late, but why not upload videos on youtube asking questions about legal immigration to the candidates? i think it will be a great way of bringing out our problems further in the mainstream... if you think this is a good idea, we may have to act on it fast... we dont have much time.

Of late I have started reading forums at R2ICLUB - R2ICLUB - Articles Front Page (http://www.r2iclubforums.com/) to get an idea of what it would take to go back to India. My last trip home was quite an eyeopener. Bombay has really improved a lot from what I saw last year and that much progress in a year was quite simply - amazing. I am guessing other metros in India (Delhi, B'lore, Hyd) are moving even faster since they dont have the typical politics that plagues Maharashtra.
Am I going to pack my bags and move tomorrow? Definitely not. But I'll definitely throw feelers out and see what kind of position I can get back home.
Good luck to all - whether you stay here or decide to go back or move to Canada or UK or EU or ....
I go to India atleast once every year and I agree that the urban infrastructure has changed a lot. But, such a change has created overcrowding in major cities which has lead to heavy pollution, rocketing inflation, high cost of living, and what not. You can get anything you want - best education, best food, best best best .... if you can afford.
During one of the trips couple of years back I did a casual interview at a huge software giant in Chennai just to guage how well I will fit. This was for a programming job in C++. Interview was rookie, intrerviewer was surprised why I want to come back because people actually seek such companies as route to US or UK and also made me feel that I may not be satisfied with the job if he has to offer.
So here is the thing. If you want to go back and lead a good life - I think it is a good idea provided you have very good education and experience and you get into the league of executives or you want to set up some booming business.
If you want to go back and work at a managerial level - you may not find things that interesting because of the affordibnility factor.
It is totally upto you to decide. If you look at urban infrastructure, India is developing, but in my opinion, the only way India can develop as a nation is by bringing about a change from the grassroots - change in beliefs, politics, innovations, products , hygene, uniform standards of living etc....

I assume yours is a conventional loan, how much equity do you have on your home, and how much down payment did you make on your home purchase first time?
I didn't pay any points. I locked in two weeks back and closed this week. Lender is a local bank in Mass.

is it possible to send an email, probably daily once to all members about High Five ?
I feel that most of the members are not aware at this time. Usually when ever something is happening live at senate or congress, more members visit and follow the proceedings. Since there is nothing like that right now, i think it's time to communicate to all of'em.
Just a thought to increase the momentum. This is a great initiative indeed in this tough economy
By the way, i've mailed another check of $50 today morning, towards yesterday's target of $2000

is there any way, any way in this whole freakin process, that we can get some sort of explanation for eb3-I first hand from DOS or USCIS? i mean there needs to be some justification for the acts? i know there are laws to interpret these dates, but how do we know that those laws are interpreted correctly by DOS or USCIS? though i am in eb3-I , jan 2003, i personally know atleast 3 folks who are in 2002 - eb3-I. Can we get some sort of guidance here.
i will ask the iv folks who keep in touch with USCIS if they know anything. AFAIK though, USCIS has come out with no answers other than quoting the non availability of adequate visa numbers. if there is any more info i will let you know...

I have come across one interesting procedure in the USCIS website regarding beneficiaries of LPRs and I am asking a friend in the US in an immigration law firm to verify about this. I am just waiting for her to provide me the details and I will inform you about it since you can also be filed as derivative beneficiaries of your wife as an alternative way for you and your daughter to be with your wife.I do pray and hope she gives me a positive response.

In my posts so far, I have tried to maintain a distinction between donation and contribution. In my dictionary these are two separate words. If you go thru my earlier posts, I had never requested for donations, every time I used the word contribution.

You believe in the cause and you stay back to make sure the outcome is moving in the right direction, and if it doesn’t, you tend to loose, not only your contribution but your passion too,which is valued so much more than your monetarycontribtion, and if the cause is getting lost you try to bring it back on the tracks someway, somehow.

I have some black dots in my Control Panel? What is the meaning of a black dot?
And how does one give black dot to some one? When I try to add reputation to a post, I can only see I approve or I disapprove options. I would imagine I approve=green and I disapprove=red. Where does a black dot fit into this scheme?

A general question - Is it normal to see LUDs on the 485, approved 140, approved 765/131 a few (3) weeks after sending AC21/G28N documentation in?
I changed employers about a month ago (140 approved, 485 pending more than 180 days), and the new company filed AC21 on Nov 3. I saw a soft LUD on my 765, 131, 485, 140 yesterday (Nov 24) and another soft LUD on just my 485 today (Nov 25). I wonder if these have to do with the AC21 and G-28N updates or if it is a sign of I-140 revocation and I should expect a 485 denial soon?
Any response will be highly appreciated.

As EB1 is Cureent, presume processing applications up date, EB3 is Unavailable, means no work to do for USCIS people as far as EB3 Adjudicate cases, leave EB4, EB5 categories aside which dont have many applications to process. Then the only category left for working with is EB2 and that also having ROW being current, the adjuticate applications left for processing with available visa numbers are EB2 India for time being. So this means for the next few months including this June 2008 there might be many approvals in
EB2 India category, as because theres no considerable work in EB category for USCIS people except EB2 India Adjudication. So presumably all the available visa numbers will be processed effectively in the EB2 category for the fical year.
It is simple. If the number of pending EB2 Apps before April 1st 2004 (India and China combined) is less than the number of spill over visa numbers, then there will be some forward movement in EB2 next month. If not, the dates will remain the same or may even retrogress.
