What does it say on your I485 receipt notice?
For example.. my app was mailed on 5/31 and RD on receipt notice is 6/4 and Notice date is 6/6 and Online case status says received on 6/5. I assume 6/5 is when USCIS created an entry for my case and 6/6 (my checks were also cashed on 6/6) is when receipt notice is actually generated. Some one correct me if I am wrong.
My application was sent on June, 14th and delivered on June 15th (I have the FedEx tracking info and signature page confirming 6/15).
The case status online based on receipt number (obtained by calling them a few times until I got lucky) says:
"On July 11, 2007, we received this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case."
Not sure if the online status is referring to the receipt date or the notice date when it says "On July 11, 2007, we received" when, in fact, they received it on June 15th!!

My lawyers have just said I will NOT get an EAD because I don't have a visascreen. EVEN though I have a USA RN license.
Has anyone heard of this. This is a first for me.

Another soft LUD on the 485 on 11/26.
This is the 3rd soft LUD on the 485 (11/24, 11/25, 11/26) post sending AC21 and G28N documentation.
485 status still says Case received and Pending.
I hope this isn't followed by a denial, I have to travel outside the country in 2 weeks and it would be nice to not have to worry about this.

Just contributed another $ 100 for the Sept 18th rally. Already sponsored a ticket for a person for the rally. I cannot attend the rally because I have a son who will be joining pre-school from Sept 17. So I need to be in stay in Dallas for the first week or so from Sept 17th

When ever you start working on EAD (filled I-9 form??)..then technically H1-B status will get invalidated...

Received my stimulus package. I am H1-B waiting for 485.
Thread title extremely misleading. The rules are clearly stated of how to receive stimulus package. OP's wife is clearly not eligible. We are all frustrated about USCIS but let's be fair to respective parties and not slander the innocent.

Here is my point. I spend several hours 3-4 hours at least every day looking through the forum posts hoping to find ways i can contribute to efforts. There are several ideas that are generated in the forum. But cannot find out who is leading it. All i am saying is if we can have a listing of initiatives with some names associated. So i can contribute to the ones that i can support. I am not sure if i am asking for too much here. I am not a IT guy. I do not know what it takes to post it in the front page.

These are all good thoughts but what u are suggesting takes some time.
The issue has two legs:
Leg 1: Process fix
Leg 2: Increasing number of greencards
What I am talking about is leg 1 and what you are talking about is for leg 2
and both are required.
I am not discouraging you for taking initiative - I am for it - let this be the first step towards doing something - but looks like we lack directive and path of execution.

I applied I-485/EAD/AP on July 24th at Nebraska. Have received EAD and FP done but AP is still pending.
I noticed couple of soft LUDS on my I-140 (which was approved in Dec, 2006) and I-485 in last few days but nothing on AP. My PD is Oct, 2005 ROW.
Still waiting.......

Mandamus is a case where plaintiff is trying to force a government official to perform his/her duty. It's being used when a case is delayed beyond reasonable time frame. See more details here:

a.) Obvious processing fess which runs into billions..
b.) a whole industry of legal professionals who feed off legal and illegal immigrants ...what will happen to Murthys and khannas...and the collateral josb that have been created by immigrants
c.) the Social security is being sustained by hi-tech and legal immigranst who pay their taxes on time.
i can list many more..but then the purpose of your article will be lost!..;-)

Yeah but if the PDs are set as unavailable, what can they do about those cases anyway, as the priority date has to be current on the day of approval in the consulate.
Furthermore, unlike with 485s they can't consular process 18K cases on a Sunday! It is not a centralised process for them to do that.
I think they have to be current when they get an appointment or something like that. I am pretty sure that they accounted those 18k as CP numbers
